All of the pictures that you see are of Lace Curtains that have a gathering of 1 1/2 fullness. In other words, if your rod size is 40 inches you would need at least 1 1/2 times that or 60 inches of fabric width. You can use more fullness but not less. Remember to consider what your goals are when designing your lace window coverings. If you want a formal look in the living room you should consider the full Length panels with a Swag Pair or Valance. Heirloom, Windsor, English Ivy and a couple of others are examples of this. If you are designing a kitchen area or theme room you should consider Valances and shorter Tiers in a pattern such as Rooster, Pine Cone, Seascape or others that are similar.
