MADRAS LACE CURTAIN WEAVING HISTORY
As with our Madras Tablecloths
the weaves are commonly referred to as lace but are
actually a muslin fabric that is always made of 100%
Cotton. Madras fabric was originally hand woven
but in the 19th century with the advent of power tools
that is no longer true. The process involves
weaving a pattern onto a sheer overall plain muslin
fabric. It is a time consuming process which
results in a very upscale quality window and table
covering product. It is woven in Scotland in the
same mills that supply the Scottish Nottingham Laces.
